Hey there! I’m Emmett, a 19-year-old Animation and Visual Effects student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Though I’m currently studying in the northeast, I spent ages 0-18 in Austin, Texas, and I’m remiss to not call it home.
Ever since childhood I’ve been a particularly tactile person, so I’ve found I really enjoy working in 3D — sure, the crafty stuff like diorama building and cake decorating, but also the type where you play around with computer-generated geometry.
That digital aspect began in high school. I took a class where we learned Autodesk Maya, and I loved it so much I decided I’d want to do it for the rest of my life. The list of software I learned snowballed from there, from Adobe to Maxon, and I’m proud to say learning new programs now comes with a practiced ease.
Currently, I’m in my second year of undergrad, and while the experience has certainly been stressful at times, it’s incredibly rewarding to see how far I’ve come in the 3D medium. I’ve mastered the foundations in not just modeling and animating, but also previsualization and image preparation. That notwithstanding, I’d say my favorite aspects in the pipeline thus far are surfacing and rigging; I eagerly await feeling confident in those areas, too!
Aside from my studies, I’m a hobby aquarist and a huge cat lover (though I’ve never owned one myself!), and I have a huge passion for play-acting and theatre. Thanks for reading this far — I’m glad to be interesting enough to get you here.
